El Paso Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT)

Reserves Program:
CERT Reserves promotes a partnering effort between emergency services and the people they serve. The goal is for emergency personnel to train members of neighborhoods, community organizations, or workplaces in basic response skills. If a disastrous event overwhelms or delays the community’s professional response, CERT Reserves members assist others by applying the basic response skills learned during training. These skills can help save and sustain lives for up to seventy-two hours following a disaster until help arrives. CERT Reserves volunteers will be trained and certified to first help themselves, their families and then their community during times of emergencies or disasters.

READY Teams:
Ready Teams were created as a collaborative effort to allow CERT members to receive additional skill-specific trainings in disaster response. This program is designed to promote a partnership between emergency management, response agencies and the people in the community that they serve. The goal is to train members of neighborhoods and workplace in response skills to be activated as part of the emergency response capability for their area.
