Home Safety Blitz 2011

CERT members assisted the El Paso Fire Department on March 12 in an effort to visit households in vulnerable neighborhoods and conduct fire safety checks.  The initiative created by Fire Marshall Calvin Shanks, aims to determine needs and risks present in households that have asked for assistance in regard to fire safety.  The assessment checks for appropriate evacuation plans and routes and equipment such as alarms.  Once completed, the teams comprised of fire fighters and CERT members went over resources, provided education and installed equipment when necessary.  These assessments will take place on a monthly basis and will continue to utilize the assistance of our CERT and Ready Teams as necessary.  To sign up on the list, please contact Jennifer Martinez or Maria Orona at 915-592-0208.
