Mission

Ready El Paso is a collaborative effort to prepare the citizens of El Paso for disasters and emergencies.  Through the Homeland Security and Urban Area Security Initative (UASI) grant, representatives from government, tribal and community agencies have come together to assess needs and implement strategies for a better prepared El Paso.

The El Paso Citizen Corps Council will actively involve the community in prevention, preparedness, response and recovery activities, and help mobilize community resources in the event of a large-scale incident.

The Council will identify ways in which the community's volunteer resources can help meet the needs of its first responders and partner agencies. It will work with existing neighborhood leaders, and recruit new teams to educate the public and encourage Citizen Corps participation throughout the community.

The Council will spearhead efforts to offer citizens new and exciting volunteer opportunities, educational information, training courses and exercises to address crime, terrorism, public health issues and disaster risks.
